Calling on King to provide priority booster clinics
“I am calling on Premier King to provide Island educators - including teachers, staff and administrators -with priority access to COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots immediately,” states Liberal Education critic MLA Gordon McNeilly.
In Prince Edward Island we are fortunate to have world class teachers, educators and staff. We know that remote learning for students in K-12 is the safest approach at this time but that the great desire of most Islanders, including educators, is to return to in person learning as quickly and as safely as possible and boosters are a critical part of that plan.
These priority clinics will allow for teachers who are currently working through a hybrid of synchronous and asynchronous content, to coordinate at home learning for students even while attending booster appointments.
In addition, other essential workers must also be part of the priority list in the weeks to come. Islanders working in grocery stores, transit drivers, and the many other essential workers who we rely on daily must be considered in prioritizing vaccinations and boosters.
