MLA Sonny Gallant Today Issued the Following Statement on Remembrance Day

November 11, 2022

Evangeline-Miscouche MLA Sonny Gallant Today Issued the Following Statement on Remembrance Day:

Today, on Remembrance Day, we honour the brave men and women who served and sacrificed to preserve our freedoms.

What does that word, “freedom,” mean? It sounds like a vague ideal, but it is reflected in our everyday lives. In Canada, we have the freedom to go to school, to go to work, to worship as we choose, to gather with our friends and family and live our lives… It is all the freedoms we may take for granted every day. And that is why it’s important that we pause on the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11thmonth to remember those who gave their lives so we can enjoy those freedoms.

Today, we also acknowledge the Canadians in uniform who are serving here at home and in missions around the world, and we hold deep in our hearts that they return safely.

We wear poppies on Remembrance Day to not only remember, but to also recognize our responsibility to work together to uphold the values of peace and harmony our veterans fought for… the values for which Canada is known and celebrated.

I hope you will join me and others in our communities in observing Remembrance Day to honour those who fought for us and our country.

Lest we forget.

Sonny Gallant, MLA

Evangeline-Miscouche

Interim Leader of the Third Party
