Waiting List for a Family Doctor a Crisis - 20,103 Islanders on the Patient Registry
A milestone of health care failure was passed today, says Liberal Health Critic Rob Henderson.
“As of today, more than 20,000 Islanders are on the patient registry. This is – by far – the largest number of Islanders who do not have access to a family physician,” Henderson said.
As the number of Islanders without a family physician keeps growing, the King government continues to rely on excuses. And while the announcement of a medical school is potentially good news, there will be no impact on today’s crisis for many years to come.
“We have heard talk of medical homes and neighborhoods – but there appears to be little substance behind the rhetoric.
“With the Legislative Assembly resuming very soon, the Liberal caucus will concentrate much of its effort on access to health care – and we will expect to hear a plan that properly responds to the crisis that is overtaking our province.”
