With Trump’s tariffs looming, Islanders expected urgent action from this government to protect jobs, stabilize industries, and secure our economy. Instead, the new Premier’s first decision is to delay the legislature by a month—leaving Islanders in the dark for another 30 days.
Earlier this month, our request to immediately reconvene the Legislature to address the urgent impact of American tariffs was denied because it was set to open on February 25. Now, even that date has been pushed back.
This means no answers, no plan, and a delayed budget at a time when Islanders need certainty from their government the most.
This government has a job to do, and Islanders can’t afford to wait while they sort themselves out. It’s time to get to work.
