As we strive to create positive learning environments for all children, it has become increasingly clear that our student’s and classrooms require more support. Recent reports, such as the one by CBC highlighting the challenges faced by school children with complex needs in our province, underscore the urgency of this issue.
The growing complexities of student needs necessitates a significant increase in the number of supports and educational assistants (EAs) in our schools.
These professionals play a crucial role in ensuring that every child receives the attention and support they need to succeed.
Providing adequate support for all students is a fundamental component of a robust education system.
By investing in supports for students, we can help ensure a positive educational experience for all children.
I raised these concerns at the Standing Committee on Education last week on behalf of the many families who are struggling with these challenges in the school system.
Government must commit to making these necessary investments so that every child can thrive in our schools.
